You might have often thought either world has become richer or poorer? Some may worry at the glaring gap between the rich and the poor which is always subject to rise. Such worries get manifold with recent BBC News claiming that the world's richest 1 % now have as much wealth as the rest of the world combined do own. Recently published reliable financial reports claim that around 62 % richest individuals today on the earth are worth more than the poorest 50 % in clear terms. Bernie Sanders ,member of the United States Senate, is justified while saying : " A nation will not survive morally or economically when so few have so much and so many have so little". This definitely paints a bleak picture of the world we share. Many of my readers would always be worried about their economic health. They might claim to belong from poorer sections of the society .But today I want you all behold a different perspective of the apparently imbalanced world we live in .
Do you deem yourself to be a poor one. If yes, neither you are poor nor you should think the way you do. In following paragraphs ,I will help you know how much rich you are in actuality .
Provisions:
Firstly ,we look at " Provisions" we have at hand . By "Provisions", I categorically mean the facilities and amenities one is equipped with. Let me ask you a simple question. Do you have eyes to witness myriad wonderful shades of the beautiful world we are inhabitants of ? If yes, stay informed that you are the lucky ones as compared to approximately 43 million blind people of this apparently discouraging world. Furthermore, shouldn't you feel grateful if you can hear clearly without any hearing aid knowing the very fact that over five percent (432 million adults and 34 million children) of the global population is living with one or other type of hearing impairment? Never let the things you long for make you forget the things you already have. Looking seriously on whatever facilities one is currently enjoying clearly helps one figure out how much rich and blessed one is in actuality.
Avoidance/Safety:
Secondly ,we cater to "Avoidance/Safety" factor. Suppose you are living in country like Pakistan and your family is not having any serious patient to deal with, don't you think you are a part and parcel of a healthy family which has been blessed enough to avoid miseries on seemingly unfortunate planet. If your kids are school-going ,attend better schools in your vicinity ,don't they have competitive advantage over those 22.8 million children who are yet out-of-school in Pakistan due to one reason or other. If while reading these lines, you can hear the voices of your playing kids around, you must not forget how much pains and pangs issueless people have to go through on account of not having kids to please their eyes with . Not being a deprived soul means you have avoided all the trials and tribulations others are facing or have been passing through. Lack of deprivation and avoiding a disadvantage of monetary and health-oriented nature, near me, is an indication of richness in absolute terms. Isn't it so?
Overstatement/Understatement of Reality:
Thirdly, people are not as poor and miserable as they claim to be. I would like to call it as "Overstatement/understatement of reality". We, humans ,have a natural tendency to paint our woes as enlarged ones and understate our merriments to begin with. In simple words, for us, humans, loss of one lac is greater in intensity than the profit of same magnitude. Near humans, losses weigh more than profits do. We, humans, overlook our entitlements ,conveniences ,facilities and provisions at hand. Conversely, we cry more than our real problems cause us to. Understating our joys and overstating our worries, we tend to feel rather poor, considering ourselves to be underprivileged and deprived ones. Reality suggests otherwise ,however.
Discontentment:
Fourthly, "Discontentment" serves as a significant factor to make holes in our pockets of joys. We have a narrow vision of unlimited world we keep on complaining about. We are in a weird routine of staying ungrateful for whatever we have and feel sorry for what we currently don't hold in store . As per a Spanish proverb ,"Hell is full of the ungrateful". Zig Ziglar, an American Author, is of the similar opinion : "You will never see a happy ungrateful person". The more one is contented with respect to what one has ,the more happy and rich one turns to be in long run. Count your blessings and rich you will feel yourself to be.
Multidimensionality:
And lastly, we resort to what we may call "Multidimensional Approach". Blessings not necessarily appear in financial terms only. They do appear in moral, intellectual. psychological and in many other indescribable ways to reckon with .Having a healthy body, a caring life partner, reasonable vehicle for conveyance, supportive parents ,normal kids and sense of freedom as well as security in the communities we live in are all recipes of rich and happy lives. One can be happy and resultantly rich in multiple ways provided that one gives thought to innumerable blessings .Allah Almighty asks for 31 times in Surah Rehman in Holy Quran: " And what are the blessings of thy Lord which ye would deny?" All we need to do is : Be grateful for all blessings we are blessed with. The more grateful one is, the more happy and rich one becomes in long run.
In nutshell, striving for the better tomorrow with a grateful heart keeps mind happy, peaceful and productive. We are always blessed, rich and rewarded in multiple ways. Ignorance about how one is blessed and rewarded one in numerous ways can never serve to be an argument at all. Let's think how rich we are all in ourselves. Let's look inside and not outside to ascertain how much rich we are !

ReplyDeleteSurely, A man with good physical and mental health is probably a God Bless Individual. A man, specially being a Muslim, is taught to be thankful to his creator who has made him much more better than millions of the people deprived of Blessings like vision and hearing. Believe me you are not deprived of any Blessings. You only are frightened of hardwork and determination.

you cannot have a positive life and a negative mind together.
A cogent, concrete and argumentative feedback....
